Mammals of Australia

Kultarr (Antechinomys laniger)

The Kultarr looks like it would hop in a similar fashion to a kangaroo. However, studies show that it is a quadrupedal, bounding rapidly from hind legs to forelegs, a gait well suited to the open sparesely vegetated land. Kultarrs are carnivorous marsupials which feed on a wide range of invertebrates. Up to four young at a time live in a pouch for about 30 days, then it may be found clinging to the mother's back while she is foraging. Kultarrs are considered very uncommon over a wide range covering most of the dry arid interior.

# NOTE from Horst: I find the sentence "up to four young ... then it may be found ..." not precise any help?
