A HANDFUL of selected guests gathered at Arid Lands Botanic Garden last week(January 2016) to celebrate the launch of the facility's second publication.

Plants of the Arid Lands Botanic Garden features all the flora found at the Port Augusta site including everything from Spider Wattles to the Sturt Desert Pea.

Chris Nayda compiled and documented all the information in the most recent Arid Lands edition, and despite all the hard work, she is happy with the final product.

The launch comes after the release of the botanic gardens' first publication Birds of the Arid Lands Botanic Garden in 2012 with help from resident bird expert Peter Langdon.

"We tried to keep it as much the like original book as possible, in terms of how it looks," Ms Nayda said.

"We've had people from Adelaide ask to post them out.

"People come along and only just realise what we've got out here and they want to know more."

The book and event was put together with contributions from Friends of the Australian Arid lands Botanic Garden (FAALBG).

Council CEO John Banks was MC Port Augusta City Council Mayor Sam Johnson launched the book.

But the highlight of the event was Ms Nayda's response with a speech reflecting her sense of humour and her passion for the FAALBG
