Crested Pidgeons are usually seen in small groups at dawn or dusk, drinking at water holes or stock dams. They usually spend the rest of the day roosting in acacias or or foraging under them for seeds. When disturbed they arise upwards with a loud wing whirr and fly swiftly with a series of rapid wing beats interspersed with periods of gliding on spread wings.
